From Paddock to Pit Lane in Seconds
The brief: build a race day experience that matched the adrenaline of the sport itself. Our solution was a fully immersive VR simulator that dropped fans into a hot lap at Mount Panorama, co-driving with their chosen Red Bull Ampol racer. We recreated the V8 Supercar in hyper-realistic detail, modelled the iconic Bathurst track with pinpoint precision, and deployed the whole thing across multiple Meta Quest headsets — ready for thousands of fans to feel the speed.
More Than Just a Ride
The experience started before the headset even went on. Fans entered a replica of the team’s garage, selected their driver, and created a custom Racing ID card printed on-site - turning every participant into a branded digital athlete. Once in VR, they were surrounded by roaring engines, real Ampol livery, and the unmistakable skyline of Mount Panorama. From cockpit vibration to team radio chatter, everything was tuned for realism, immersion, and fan connection.
High-Octane Engagement
The Hot Lap VR experience didn’t just entertain - it performed. As a centrepiece of TLA Australia’s on-site activations, it became a crowd magnet, generating queues, buzz, and social media traction with hashtags like #RedBullAmpolRacingVR. It offered an unbeatable fan perspective while reinforcing Ampol’s high-performance positioning through direct, first-person experience.
Built to Tour, Engineered to Last
Designed for mobile deployment, the installation was robust, portable, and repeatable - perfectly suited for the national Supercars tour. Catalyst handled the full build: 3D modelling, Unity development, hardware integration, and on-site support. The result was a VR activation that brought racegoers closer to their heroes and set a new standard for immersive brand experiences in motorsport.
