The experience begins when fans scan a QR code on the Asahi x Man City limited edition can. Instantly, their mobile browser launches a slick branded intro and AR permissions flow. Once granted, the can explodes into life - rotating in 3D, releasing a surge of light that builds the stadium, pitch, and keeper before their eyes. It’s a beer can that becomes a goalmouth, a collectible that becomes a game controller.

Play With the Pros

The core of the experience is a rapid-fire, three-shot penalty game. Users swipe to shoot - left, right, or centre - as Rúben Dias, Rodri, and Nathan Aké take turns stepping up. Custom animation sequences show the players celebrating or reacting depending on the outcome, and the keeper uses weighted probabilities to keep things interesting. It’s snappy, dynamic, and repeatable - a mini matchday in your pocket.

Once the final score is revealed, users can pose for a digital photo beside the Asahi can and the Man City player of their choice. A seamless UI encourages them to share the moment or try again. All branding - from kit detail to background stadium textures - is designed to be clean, bold, and unmistakably Asahi x City. Designed from the ground up as a social-ready, interactive souvenir for fans.

Built in 8th Wall and optimised for browser-based deployment, the game was designed to work across devices and markets - including in China, with custom loading logic and guidance for WeChat compatibility. Performance was carefully tuned with asset compression and lazy loading, ensuring a high-fidelity experience that ran smoothly without an app. The result? A fluid, immersive activation that united product, platform, and passion.
